Winter Landscape with horses hauling logs [1949)

Like F.S. Coburn before him, James Donnell was particularly adept at depicting winter scenes of horses hauling logs. This painting captures this necessary winter task, the silence of the snow broken only by the snorting of the horses and the swish of the cart’s runners.
